MSC Cruises is one month out from launching its newest flagship. The MSC World Asia, the third ship in the line's World class, is due for delivery on November 25 and welcomes its first guests on December 4, 2026. The 205,700-ton vessel passed its sea trials in July and September, and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest and most food-obsessed ships afloat.

The onboard line-up leans heavily into Italian indulgence. There's the largest Venchi chocolate venue ever put on a cruise ship: a 300-square-metre space combining a boutique, café and gelateria, stocked with 20 gelato flavours, 20 praline varieties and 11 chocolate bars. Europe also gets its first Eataly at sea, complete with live cooking, a Chef's Table, an ocean-view terrace and curated wine experiences.

For anyone travelling with kids — or anyone who refuses to grow up — the headline attraction is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, an 81.3-metre dry slide that twists across 12 decks, the longest of its kind at sea. Add more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, including a Clubhouse, Soda Bar, The Terraces Bar & Lounge, Coral Cove Bar and a new Pan-Asian street food outlet, and the ship covers a lot of snacking ground.

Those after something quieter can look to the MSC Yacht Club, the line's ship-within-a-ship luxury zone. World Asia carries 144 Yacht Club suites across seven categories — the widest selection in the fleet — including a new Royal Duplex Suite aimed at families and groups who want extra space and privacy with the usual Yacht Club perks.

As for where it all actually goes: the inaugural winter and summer seasons are dedicated to the Mediterranean, before the ship repositions to the Caribbean for winter 2027-28. There it will run seven- and 14-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, which puts ports like Barbados, Antigua and St. Lucia within reach for sun-seekers.

Why it matters: if you've been toying with a Med cruise for summer 2027, this is one of the newest, largest ships you'll be able to book — and the food credentials alone set it apart from the standard buffet-and-grill formula. Families get a genuine thrill ride, couples and group travellers get a serious luxury option in the Yacht Club, and the Southern Caribbean programme from late 2027 gives long-haul planners something concrete to pencil in. Anyone who books early for the first Mediterranean season will likely see the best fares and cabin choice.
