If your ideal Jamaican holiday is mostly sand, sea and sunsets with as few decisions as possible, Sandals Negril makes a strong case. The adults-only, all-inclusive resort sits directly on Seven Mile Beach, the broad white-sand strip on Jamaica's west coast that's famous for calm turquoise water and long, walkable shoreline.
Location is the selling point. The resort occupies one of the widest parts of the beach and is built along the sand rather than set back inland, so the Caribbean stays front and centre. Seven Mile Beach is one of those rare famous beaches where walking is genuinely part of the fun — you can stroll past beach bars and independent hotels and claim a new patch of sand whenever you like.
On the all-inclusive side, the numbers are solid: eight restaurants and five bars, including two swim-up bars, four pools, three whirlpools, and included snorkelling, paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, water skiing and even scuba diving for certified divers. Dining ranges from open-air seaside spots to Italian, Spanish and Latin-inspired menus. Round-trip airport transfers are bundled in too, so once you land there's little to organise.
The standout rooms lean into the beachfront setting. Beachfront swim-up suites offer direct access to a lagoon pool, while SkyPool Butler Suites have private elevated pools facing the sea, plus butler service and 24-hour in-room dining. For a honeymoon or anniversary, those are the categories worth targeting.
Crucially, this isn't an all-inclusive stranded in a generic resort zone. Negril's West End — where limestone cliffs replace the beach and spots like Rick's Cafe perch above the water — is an easy outing, giving you two very different sides of the town in one trip.
Price-wise, this is among the more approachable Sandals properties in Jamaica: recent promotional rates started around $213 per person per night, covering accommodation, meals, drinks, most water sports, taxes, gratuities and transfers. Rates swing a lot with dates and room type, but the fair comparison is total trip cost, not the headline rate.
Timing is also interesting. Sandals is midway through a $200 million reboot of its seven-resort Jamaica portfolio. Sandals Negril is already open alongside Ochi, Dunn's River and Royal Plantation; South Coast reopens November 18 after a big transformation, and on December 18 the original Montego Bay property returns together with Sandals Caribbean Cay (the rebranded former Royal Caribbean).
For travellers who want a beach-first Caribbean holiday where meals, drinks and activities are already sorted — and who'd like one of the region's great beaches as their front yard — Negril is hard to beat this winter.
