Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport opens to passengers on 25 October 2026, and it will have its own express shuttle network running from the very first flight. The Super Shuttle WSI service, operated with NSBC Group under a five-year deal, links the new airport with three key points: Parramatta, central Sydney and — crucially for some itineraries — Sydney's existing Kingsford Smith Airport.
Introductory one-way adult fares start at $25 for Parramatta, $55 for the Sydney CBD and $65 for the direct transfer between the two airports. Tickets are already on sale online, and from launch day there will also be kiosks in and around the WSI terminal. Discounted child and family pricing has been flagged but not yet detailed.
The buses themselves are electric, low-floor vehicles carrying 37 seated passengers plus standing room. There are luggage racks, dedicated pram and wheelchair space, and each bus can take two wheelchair users. WSI is also building dedicated shuttle bays at the terminal for boarding and alighting.
Two things to watch before booking. First, timetables are initially tied to the flight schedule rather than running to a fixed every-15-or-30-minutes pattern — and WSI is a 24-hour airport, so services may not be continuous overnight. Exact pick-up points in the city and confirmed journey times haven't been published yet, so check the specific departure for your date.
Second, the $65 airport-to-airport link is a road transfer between two separate airports. It makes dual-airport itineraries workable, but there's no published transfer duration to build a tight connection around. You'll need to allow for baggage collection, traffic and your next flight's check-in cut-off — and remember that WSI and SYD are different airport codes on the same booking.
Why it matters: these fares finally put a number on the true cost of flying into or out of Western Sydney. A cheap airfare into WSI can look less appealing once you add $55 to reach the city, or $65 and a road transfer to connect at Kingsford Smith. Conversely, travellers staying in Parramatta or Sydney's west may find the $25 shuttle makes WSI the smarter — and quieter — option. Whoever you are, compare the whole door-to-door cost and timing, not just the headline fare.
