The Alps are getting a serious refresh for winter 2026-27, with a batch of new-build hotels and overhauled classics opening their doors in Austria and France. If you've been waiting for an excuse to book a snow trip, this crop of openings gives you plenty of options, from budget-friendly Tyrol to ultra-luxe Courchevel.

In Austria, THE GREEN in Uderns opens in December 2026 in the Zillertal valley, wedged between the golf course and the ski area. The headline feature is a 3,300-square-metre indoor-outdoor wellness zone called Flora & Fauna, complete with pools, saunas, a Sky Garden and a natural bathing lagoon. Rooms lean on wood, natural textiles and big windows, and there's a kids' club and flexible all-day dining. Classic doubles start from €169 a night, which is genuinely reasonable for a new resort property. Also in Austria, Mazaggs – Alpenhof am Achensee in Pertisau offers classic rooms from €300.

France has the lion's share of the action. In Les Menuires, the four-star °F7 Les Menuires welcomes its first guests on 11 December 2026. It's a true ski-in, ski-out property near the Preyerand gondola, with 51 rooms sleeping two to six people (27-91 square metres), designed by Véronique Vidoni of the °Fahrenheit Seven group. There's a glazed spa with heated indoor pool and adults-only evening access, plus an on-site ski hire boutique. Rates start at €300.

Courchevel 1850 gets two big debuts. The Bourbon Hotel opens 18 December 2026 with 28 rooms and three suites, direct access onto Les Trois Vallées, and a subterranean stone-and-onyx spa built around contrast therapy — sauna, hammam, indoor pool. Expect to pay from about €850 a night, B&B. If money is truly no object, wait until December 2027 for Lily of the Valley Courchevel, a Philippe Starck-designed, ski-in ski-out hotel on the runway of the famous Altiport, with 30 suites facing Mont Blanc and a strong wellness focus.

Finally, Morzine gets the Garance Hotel, a revamp of the old Les Airelles by the Mont-Blanc Collection, opening this December. It keeps the village façade but adds a brasserie, Nordic spa, yoga spaces and family-friendly lounges, all a few minutes' walk from the lifts.

Why it matters: whether you want affordable wellness in the Zillertal, purpose-built ski-in convenience in Les Menuires, or full luxury in Courchevel, the 2026-27 season covers every budget. Book early — new hotels in headline resorts tend to sell out their first winter.
