Four Croatian campsites run by the Aminess group now hold the ADAC Superplatz label, one of the most demanding quality marks in European camping. The newest addition is Aminess Style Camping Atea Resort on the island of Krk, which received the award at the 20th Croatian Camping Congress. It joins Maravea and Sirena in Novigrad, Istria, and Avalona on the island of Pag in the club of Superplatz-rated sites.
The ADAC Superplatz designation comes from the German automobile club ADAC, whose inspectors apply strict criteria covering everything from sanitary facilities to pitches, service and overall guest experience. Because German campers are among the most discerning in Europe, the label carries real weight — and it signals that Croatian campsites can compete with the best on the continent, not just offer good value.
The Krk award is the culmination of a big spend. Aminess invested 32 million euros in the Atea resort, with the renovation wrapped up in 2025. The campsite was reworked into a five-star premium resort: upgraded pitches and modern accommodation units, new guest facilities and digital solutions, and a deliberate reduction in capacity so guests get more space and privacy. Notably, the overhaul also prioritised greenery and preserving the natural setting — denser planting and more green area rather than squeezing in more units.
Mladen Knežević, president of Aminess's management board, framed the awards as both recognition and motivation, saying the company aims to raise European camping standards with products that rival the continent's best in quality, facilities and guest experience.
For travellers, the news is straightforward: if you've been sleeping on Croatian camping, this is your cue. Croatia has quietly become one of Europe's strongest camping destinations, and the Aminess sites show why. Atea on Krk puts you on an island connected to the mainland by bridge, minutes from beaches and the historic town of Krk. Maravea and Sirena sit near Novigrad on Istria's west coast — truffle country, wine country, and a short drive from the photogenic hill towns inland. Avalona is on Pag, an island famous for its stark, moon-like scenery, Pag cheese and livelier summer scene in Novalja.
The Superplatz label matters practically, too: these sites are vetted for spotless sanitary blocks, well-serviced pitches and reliable management — the details that make or break a long camping stay. With capacity cut at Atea, booking ahead in peak season is a smart move.
