Long before the plane leaves the runway, Singapore Airlines is already working. Its Suites and First Class passengers departing from Changi Airport now get a fully looked-after path from kerbside to gate — and it starts the second the car pulls up.

A porter takes the bags on arrival, so you can head straight to the First Class check-in reception, where a chilled hand towel sets the tone. From there, a concierge escorts you through immigration and on to the SilverKris Lounge, with complimentary buggy transfers to the departure gate when available. Travellers leaving from gates A1 to A5 in Terminal 3 can use a Premium Security Screening Lane (running daily 8.30am to 12.30pm and 9pm to 1am), while anyone departing elsewhere gets dedicated help through security. The concierge service even covers passengers connecting onto an SIA Suites or First Class flight from other airlines — and mirrors it on arrival back in Singapore, with an escort to baggage claim and help with onward plans.

The lounges have had a serious refresh too. Suite and First Class passengers can access them up to 24 hours before their flight, so turning up early actually pays off. From 28 October 2026, the First Class SilverKris Lounge adds full-service dining to its buffet, alongside The Private Room's existing personalised dining. Staff have been put through a dedicated training programme covering mixology and barista skills, and the bar now runs from 5am to 2am with a new cocktail list plus wellness drinks.

Food upgrades stretch across the lounge tiers. A refreshed à la carte menu draws on Singapore's food scene and includes child-friendly options, while the First Class lounge gets new bread and live stations plus gluten-free bread and desserts. The Business Class SilverKris Lounge has reorganised its buffet for easier browsing, and KrisFlyer Gold Lounge diners benefit from the revamped menu as well.

Why should a traveller care? If you've splashed out on a Suites or First Class ticket, this is the difference between paying for a seat and buying an entire door-to-gate experience. The pre-flight hours — often the most stressful part of flying — are treated as part of the product, whether you're departing, in transit, or arriving home. It also signals where premium air travel is heading: ground service as a competitive battleground, not just what happens at 38,000 feet. For anyone planning a splurge trip through Singapore's hub, the practical takeaway is simple: arrive early, linger in The Private Room, and let the concierge do the legwork.
