French cruise brand CFC (Compagnie Française de Croisières) has a new name: Ambassador Croisières. The rebrand completes its integration with UK-based Ambassador Cruise Line, but the message from both companies is that the French character of the operation stays put. Sailings will still leave from French ports, the French office and teams remain in place, and the onboard experience keeps its distinctly French flavour.
The brand targets travellers aged 50 and over with no-fly cruises and regional departures — a model Ambassador has built its reputation on in the UK. Maëlysse Pierrot-Guibourt, president of Ambassador Croisières, said the name change doesn't affect the company's presence in France, while CEO Christian Verhounig framed it as a natural step toward making Ambassador one of Europe's leading cruise lines for the over-50s market.
For anyone who cruises from France, the practical picture is unchanged in the short term. Northern Europe and Mediterranean itineraries continue to depart exclusively from Dunkirk and Marseille, and the winter Caribbean program aboard the Renaissance from Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe — running since 2025 — carries on in future seasons.
The real news is the 2028 program, which goes on sale soon and broadens the map considerably. Familiar routes return: Norway, Iceland, the Baltic, Greece, the Adriatic, Spain and the Caribbean. Three standouts have confirmed dates. Egypt joins the lineup for the first time with a 14-night sailing from May 28 to June 11, 2028, featuring a two-day stop in Alexandria — enough time to make the trip inland to the Pyramids of Giza. Ireland returns in a bigger way with a July 16 to 24 itinerary linking British and Irish coasts, calling at Cork, Dublin, Liverpool and the Isles of Scilly. And a six-night autumn sailing from September 28 to October 4, 2028 covers southern Norway including Oslo, plus northern Denmark.
Why does a corporate rebrand matter to holidaymakers? Because it signals investment and scale behind a product that's relatively rare: regional, no-fly cruising from French ports with a French onboard experience, now backed by a larger group.
