Getting from the island of Brač to the Dalmatian mainland is about to get a lot quicker. From 1 November 2026, Croatian operator Krilo Fast Ferries (also known as Kapetan Luka) will run a daily fast catamaran linking Pučišća, Postira, Omiš and Split — and it will cut a journey that currently drags on for around two and a half hours down to roughly 70 minutes.

The vessel is the TROPIC catamaran, which carries 332 passengers. As proposed, it will leave Pučišća each morning at 6.15 am, calling at Postira before arriving in Split, with the return leg scheduled to depart Split at 4.15 pm. Omiš is pencilled in for weekend service only, on Saturdays and Sundays. The schedule is provisional and could shift a little before final details are confirmed.

The headline number here is time saved: about 80 minutes each way compared with the current public transport options. For islanders that means an easier commute to work, school or medical appointments in Split. For travellers, it opens up a genuinely convenient loop — Brač's charming north coast villages plus the riverside town of Omiš, all without a car or a slow bus-and-ferry shuffle.

Pučišća is worth the trip in its own right: a quiet white-stone village on Brač's northern shore, famous for its stonemasonry school and limestone quarries. Postira, the other stop on the route, is a laid-back harbour town with beaches and olive groves nearby. Adding Omiš to the mix — where the Cetina River cuts through a dramatic gorge to the sea — means you could base yourself in Split and tick off three very different Dalmatian spots by boat, no driving required.

The announcement came from Croatian MP Danica Baričević, who has been pushing for the connection for months. Travellers planning a late-autumn or winter Dalmatian trip should watch for the confirmed timetable, but the message is already clear: Brač is becoming far easier to reach outside the peak summer ferry rush.
