HAWAIʻI Magazine is running a giveaway alongside its 2027 Readers' Choice Awards, and the prize is a proper Hawaii holiday: two round-trip flights on Hawaiian Airlines plus a four-night stay at Waimea Plantation Cottages on Kauaʻi. The package is valued between $2,000 and $4,000 depending on where you fly from and when.
Here's how it works. Voting opens Nov. 6, 2026 and closes Dec. 20, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaiʻi Standard Time. To enter, you register with an email address at vote.hawaiimagazine.com and cast at least one valid vote for your favourite Hawaii locations or businesses. Registering without voting doesn't count — a real vote is what gets you into the draw.
You can vote once per category per day, which is handy if you have strong opinions about the best poke or the best beach, but extra voting won't boost your odds. Each person gets exactly one giveaway entry no matter how many votes they submit. The winner is picked by random drawing from everyone who submitted at least one valid vote.
A few catches worth knowing. The giveaway is open only to legal US residents aged 18 or over, and employees of HAWAIʻI Magazine, aio Media Group, Hawaiian Airlines and Waimea Plantation Cottages (plus their immediate families) are excluded. The prize can't be transferred or swapped for cash, and flights and the cottage stay are both subject to availability and blackout dates. Meals, baggage fees, airport transfers, taxes and any extra nights come out of your own pocket, and the winner covers any applicable taxes on the prize. Expect an email within about 30 days of the closing date if you win — you'll need to reply within five business days or the organisers may pick someone else.
If you do land it, Waimea Plantation Cottages is a characterful base on Kauaʻi's sunny west side — restored plantation-era homes near Waimea, the town gateway to Waimea Canyon. It's a good jumping-off point for driving up to the canyon lookouts or boat tours along the Nā Pali Coast.
Even if the odds don't fall your way, the voting itself is a useful exercise: the Readers' Choice categories surface the restaurants, beaches, hotels and activities that locals and repeat visitors actually rate, which beats a generic top-ten list when you're planning your own Hawaii trip. Just remember the giveaway isn't affiliated with Instagram or Facebook, and entries that look automated or fraudulent can be disqualified. Check the official rules before entering, and get your vote in before the December 20 deadline.
