Underwater photographers, there's a week of Red Sea diving on the line. DIVE Magazine has launched the final Big Shot contest of the year, themed 'In Your Face', and the overall winner takes home a liveaboard trip aboard the Red Sea Aggressor II, a prize worth $2,760 courtesy of Aggressor Adventures.

The brief is deliberately loose. Anything goes — animal, vegetable or mineral — shot on any camera, as long as it's underwater and the subject is filling the frame. Macro counts, but the judges want more than simple proximity: they're after images with attitude, shots where it's obvious who rules the frame. Think a grouper staring down the lens rather than a shy critter half-hidden in the sand.

Entries are open now and close on Wednesday, 3 December 2026 at 23:59 BST. You can submit between one and five images, but the form can only be used once, so pick your set carefully. There's also a social requirement: post your shots on Instagram, Facebook or X with the hashtag #divesbigshotinyourface plus the specified DIVE and Aggressor handles. You must be the original photographer, hold full copyright, and have high-resolution originals (300 dpi minimum as a JPEG) ready on request.

The rewards stack up beyond the grand prize. The best images will appear in DIVE's Winter 2026/27 print issue, published in late December or early January. The top three entrants get a year's print-and-digital subscription, everyone published receives a year's digital subscription, and highly commended photographers get digital-only access. One caveat: entry signs you up to DIVE's free weekly newsletter (cancellable anytime), and your email is shared with Aggressor Adventures.

About that prize: it's a week for one person in a shared deluxe stateroom on the Red Sea Aggressor II, covering diving, tanks, weights, all onboard meals, snacks and soft drinks. The small print matters, though — flights are excluded, and you'll need to make your own way to and from Hurghada, Egypt, plus cover insurance, visas, nitrox fills, equipment rental, gratuities, port fees and alcoholic drinks. Dates are agreed with Aggressor Adventures, and the prize can't be swapped for cash or transferred.

For anyone with an archive of punchy underwater close-ups, this is one of the more generous photo contests around — a proper week of liveaboard diving in the northern Red Sea, with the chance to see your work in print. Entries only take a few minutes if your images are already to hand.
