River cruising just got simpler for anyone eyeing Europe's waterways. Spanish-language river line Crucemundo will make every 2027 European sailing all-inclusive, with shore excursions and a daily drinks package bundled into the fare. Coffee and drinks run from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day, and guided tours are offered in both English and Spanish.
The 2027 season also brings more ships and more cabins. A renovated vessel, the CruceNova — previously sailing as the Thurgau Silence — joins the Danube. The line says its rebuilt design separates the engine and propulsion from passenger areas, which cuts noise and vibration noticeably. It carries 194 guests, every cabin faces outside, and mid and upper-deck staterooms get French balconies.
In total, the line will run four ships in Europe for 2027: the CruceNova and the Fidelio on the Danube, the CruceRio on the Rhine and the Douro Cruiser on Portugal's Douro, with 115 departures overall. That's a meaningful step up in capacity for a line that positions itself as a smaller, more personal alternative to the big river cruise names.
There's a logistics change worth knowing too. Crucemundo is moving its Rhine base from Cologne to Düsseldorf, which lets it offer 19 Rhine departures across three seven-night itineraries: Holland & Belgium, Classical Rhine and Romantic Moselle. The Düsseldorf docks sit minutes from an international airport, so getting to the ship is far less of a trek than from some other embarkation points.
The Douro is getting a winter extension as well. After a trial December 2025 sailing sold out, the line has confirmed Christmas and New Year's departures on the Douro for the coming seasons — a chance to see Portugal's river valley and its port-wine towns in low-season calm.
Crucemundo's main source markets are Europe and South America, but it recently opened a Los Angeles office and is targeting trade expansion in North America and Australia during 2027. The company also owns its ships outright rather than chartering, which it credits for tighter control over itineraries and onboard standards — and it says it's weighing more vessel acquisitions to grow further on the Rhine and Danube.
Why does this matter for holidaymakers? All-inclusive river cruises remove the guesswork from budgeting — no surprise bar bills or optional tour fees. The English-language excursions make the product accessible beyond its usual Spanish-speaking base, and the Düsseldorf hub is one of the easiest river cruise departure points to fly into. If you've been curious about a quiet, mid-size river ship without the mega-line price tag, 2027 is the year Crucemundo becomes worth a look — especially for a Danube Christmas market cruise or a winter Douro escape over the holidays.
